About Tour Guide Toshi N.

(English) ↓Spanish version down below ↓

My name is Toshi Nakahara.

I am certified tour guide for both English and Spanish.

I have lived in USA for 15 years in total starting from Iowa when I was in a high school as an AFS exchange student and later in Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco and finally in New Jersey as a business man.

I learned Spanish at Osaka University for Foreign Studies for 4 years and lived in Mexico, Venezuela and Ecuador for more than 5 years in total, and travelled some other countries in Latin America and Spain.

I am a certified Wine sommelier and quite knowledgeable about Japanese Sake.

So in addition to the regular tour of metropolitan Tokyo area and its vicinity, I can take you to very authentic and popular restaurants where you can enjoy wonderful world of Japanese cuisine with some local drink. That is my strength, so to speak.

I can do one day or half day tour for weekends for Metropolitan Tokyo area, but also can cater to the needs of people who want to be guided to some deep, casual and reasonably priced "Izakaya" style drinking places during weekdays after 5:00PM if I am open. I can also guide, if schedule allows, Yokohama, Kamakura, Hakone, Mt. Fuji vecinity, Nikko and some popular places in western Japan like Kyoto, Nara and Osaka as I lived there for many years.

I enjoy talking about many topics such as Japanese culture and of your own country.

My motto is to make visiting friends from overseas experience memorable moments and make them feel at home and happy.

(Ahora en español)

Me llamo Toshi Nakahara.

Disappointed

Toshi was a nice person but the entire experience was lackluster No education or insight into the area food or culture Essentially, it was dinner with a stranger. We had a guide in Kyoto and he provided handouts and a wealth of knowledge on Japanese culture history and food I do not like to provide sub par ratings but I found it difficult to say anything positive about this experience We informed him we could not drink for health issues and we ended up in a craft beer establishment So sorry for negative review but this is a true depiction of the experience

Great tour around the city

We had a great tour around key places in Tokyo with Toshi. He not only had a great route planned for us but also gave really interesting commentary about the sites, history, culture, etc. Highly recommend him!

Amazing visit around Mt Fuji area

Toshi was an amazing guide, our family had a great time with him around Mt Fuji and back to Tokyo! He was very knowledgeable and friendly for the whole family. Even though the weather was not good, he adjusted our plans and showed us a great time! Highly recommend Toshi!

Straight to the essence of Japanese conviviality

Imagine that you just landed in Tokyo. You are exposed to a very fashinating but also very different culture. You want to try new things, and get along with the locals someway, but at the same time the language barrier, and which place to choose (too many in an immense town like Tokyo) hold you back from making the first move. With Toshi-san, you bypass the problem: you are literally transported into the heart of Japanese conviviality. Which is not only about what you eat and what you drink (both fantastic and unusual, by the way): you get the full atmosophere of the Japanese Izakaya, the smell of the burning barbeque, the noise of the locals chatting and relaxing after a day of work. You are there where you want to be, the real, non tourist, place. Toshi-san will make you feel so comfortable that at a certain point (after one beer or two) you will feel like you've been there for your whole life. Toshi-san's tour is mandatory for greeting Japan.
