Moriaki gave the four of us an excellent tour of several fascinating sites in Kagoshima. He was extremely organized and kept us on schedule throughout the day. Of 8 private tours we booked on a recent (cruise) visit to Japan, this was our least favorite. All 6 of us found our guide a nice guy who tried his best but was very difficult to understand. His English was heavily accented, his vocabulary more limited than other guides, and he spoke so softly that he was often inaudible. While we did all the things we planned to do, there was a passivity in the way he led the tour -- often not recognizing the group's desire to move on from a particular spot - which resulted in people wandering off on their own.

Despite the rain, we were able to gain insights into life at the volcano. We were also informed about the industrial development and the importance of this area for it in Senganen. The garden is very beautiful and absolutely worth seeing. We would have liked a little more time for the Senganen-Garten.
