This is a tour to the Last capital of independent Sri Lanka which fell to the British in1815. THE VISIT to the sacred tooth relic temple which houses the tooth relic of the Buddha is the highlight of this tour. Apart from it a city tour of kandy, a visit to the Botanical garden of Pera denial as well as a visit to the elephant orphanage in Pinnawela are the other attractions.

This was laid down by the British in1822. It is a picturous botanical garden, with thousands of species of flora. It's alleys and and floral gardens are laid out very methodically. The orchid house , the bamboo collection, the memorial treed, the giant ficus Benjamin trees, the spice trees etc are worth seeing.
Takes about 3H from Kandy to Colombo depending on the traffic situation.

In the compound you will find the ancient kings palace, the audience hall etc the possessions of the tooth relic temple which is known as Dalada perahara is very famous. It parades the streets of Kandy in the months of July August for ten long days for many hours.
